New Mills U18’s 3-4 Signol Athletic
The Millers U18’s slipped to their first league defeat in almost two years as a poor start to the game and wastefulness in front of goal left them too much to do in a hard fought contest on Ollersett Playing Fields.
The visitors were quick out of the traps and were three ahead in twenty minutes, all three goals of high quality.
The Millers changed system in response and by half time were back in the contest as a Jake Brooks header and AJ Theyer’s close range effort reduced the deficit.
On 75 minutes a Max Gravestock cross was converted by Alex Capraro to level the scores and The Millers were in the ascendancy, but as they pushed to win the game Signol looked dangerous on the break as their goalkeeper launched long clearances downfield. On 88 minutes one such clearance saw them win a free kick on the edge of the area, which was driven in low and even though Noah Smith got a hand to the ball he was unable to keep it out.
There was barely time to restart the game as the visitors celebrated their victory.
The Millers are at home again this Sunday as Hazel Grove United visit
