Perfect conditions for football at Glossopdale this morning for the Yellows game against Chapel Town U7 Yellows.
But before the football started, we joined the 5 other teams playing at the same time, for a minutes silence to pay our respects on Remembrance Sunday. Every player, coach and spectator observed this impeccably - super proud of the Yellows as this was the first time they have experienced this as a team.
Our focus then turned to the game and as soon as the whistle went both teams were trying to get on the front foot. From playing this opposition last week, the Yellows knew what they would be up against - a well organised team who played with pace. There was no time to dwell on the ball as both teams closed each other down superbly in a close first half. The best chance of the first half falling to Joshua, whose dipping free kick flew over the wall which needed the opposition goalkeeper to make an outstanding save.
The game opened up in the second half with the Yellows goalkeeper Toby producing some excellent saves. But they also created more chances going forward. Some confident passing and making use of the space finally saw the ball hit the back of the net - an absolute rocket from Ronan ⚽️
At the end of the game, every one of the Yellows players were happy with their performance today - and rightly so. They showed fantastic attitude, never stopped running and communicated with each other throughout the whole game.
Special mention to today’s captain Dylan. He played a bit further back than usual, but he saw a lot of the ball. Never panicking, he had the confidence to play passes out from defence to his team-mates and made some fantastic tackles when the opposition were on the attack.
Well done Yellows - super proud of your attitude today. Roll on next week!
