Match Report NMJFC Under 8s Wasps - 02/10/22
On a glorious morning at Glossopdale, the Wasps found their spirit tested by an experienced Hayfield side.
It was Play Safe Weekend, with special matching armbands for the occasion being worn by the captains of all teams including those in the Premier League! The armband for the Wasps was presented to captain for the day Brooke by a representative from the FA. 🙂
Then it was straight into the action, with the whole team working extremely hard to soak up early pressure. Then, Harry broke free and after a lengthy sprint unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot which sounded like it might snap the framework as it smashed against the post! Unlucky!
The Wasps didn’t have to wait long for another opportunity: With the team’s excellent movement in the box keeping the opposition occupied, Harry slotted a super set piece goal straight into the bottom corner ⚽!
Dylan was first half goalkeeper, staying alert and ready whenever he was needed. 👍 Goalkeeping duties passed to Frankie C for the second half, who produced a string of outstanding saves in only his second game for the team! 👍
Brooke kept the opposition busy for large portions of the game, with a typically tenacious performance earning her the trophy for NMJFC Player of the Match 🏆!
The Wasps put in great performances all over the pitch. It was a gruelling second half and everyone worked hard for each other right until the very last moment of the game. 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Great character was shown by the whole team - well done Wasps!
