Match Report 08/10/23

NMJFCU9 Wasps v Whaley Bridge U9 Tigers

Another tough game for the Wasps against a well organised Whaley Bridge Tigers.

The Wasps had a good start, matching the Tigers in all areas of the pitch, with captain Dylan leading the way.

As always, Frankie solid in goal and Jacob, Sam & Alexander sweeping up in defence.

Kai tirelessly providing the midfield link to Dylan, Alfie and Rocco.

There were glimmers of routines from training, but the Wasps struggled to break down the Tiger’s forward & midfield lines, particularly in the second half.

When they did get the ball in the oppositions half, they looked dangerous, coming close on a number of occasions, but the Whaley defence & goal keeper made it difficult for the Wasps to apply their sting.

Tiredness showed as the game went on, and a surprisingly warm October afternoon didn’t help the energy levels.

There’s a few things for the coaches to look at in training in preparation for the next game against Tintwistle Diamonds, but the Wasps should be confident looking forward to next weekend.
