Match Report – 13th September, New Mills Juniors U8s Vipers vs Chapel Town Junior Cheetahs.

An early start for the Vipers this week after starting the season last week with a great game of football they would follow it up with another stunning game against Chapel Town Junior Cheetahs, more familiar opponents as we faced them last year.

We welcomed Alistair back this week but still didn’t have a full complement as Lily was missing this week so hopefully next week we will have the band, fully back together.

This week Jude would be our captain and started out on the left with Kit on the right.

Leo would take his usual spot at centre back with Kingsley taking the gloves for the first half.

Logan and Elliott would start further forward this week with Thomas and Alistair as our game changers ready to make the difference from the bench and as always, everyone getting equal time on the field.

The game started and it for the majority of the first half both teams struggled to find the back of the net, not through want of trying but great defending from both defences and saves from the two keepers.

Kingsley was at his best, with Leo marshalling the defence well in front of him.

Kit was full of running on the right but tracked back well to support Leowhen needed.

Jude was reveling in having the armband and was dynamic in the tackle and driving forward as well.

Logan and Elliott were doing their best to create chances but were stifled by some solid defending.  It took a great piece of determination from Elliott to get the Vipers opening goal with a well taken strike.  More excellent defending from both sides with

Thomas and Alistair coming into the game to continue the great work of their teammates.  Thomas unlucky not to get off the mark with a stunning strike and Alistair quick in the tackle and keen to create for Elliott and Jude.

Before we knew it half time was upon us and after a water break and some encouragement the team got back to work with the same gusto as the first half.

Elliott took the gloves for the second half to continue the solid work from Kingsley with Kingsley taking Elliott’s position further forward.

Some further great football carried on from all the Vipers players with the highlight of the 2nd half being a stunning team goal which was well worked from back to front.

Kit’s cross-field ball found Kingsley who ran forward, supported by Jude, he played Jude down the line who expertly cut it back for Kingsley to fire into the near post.

A great team move and an example of what the team can create together.

Before we knew it the final whistle had blown with the Vipers and Cheetahs red faced with exhaustion but smiling with delight at competing in a great game.

All the team played their part in a super game for their cheering supporters.

Looking forward to more of the same next week Vipers!!
