This week the Vipers had the wettest of fixtures they could have, the heavens opened and didn’t want to relent but the floodgates were opened on a torrent of football from the Vipers.
This week unfortunately we didn’t have everyone as both Alistair and Jude were unwell, fingers crossed for next week both, we missed you guys and look forward to seeing you soon.
The team this week was captained by Kit, who would take the goalkeeping duties for the second half. Kingsley starting in goal, Kit would start on the right with Elliott on the left, Logan would start at centre back with Lily and Thomas further forward and Leo would start as our only game-changer. Despite the downpour, nothing would rain on the Vipers parade. From kick off to the final whistle all seven players showcased what makes them great individually and as a team.
Kingsley – made several first half saves and when outfield in the second half, did his best to showcase his passing, tackling and dribbling ability. Linking well with the rest of the team going forward but also keen to track back defensively.
Kit (c) – Rewarded with tireless industry in the first half with 2 goals and an assist, could easily had much more as the ball seemed to gravitate towards him on the right. Constantly involved in attacks, shouting for the ball but always diligent in tracking back to win the ball.
Logan – dominant in defence but playing great passes through to setup attacks in the first half, he was rewarded with a second half hattrick and several assists as well. The pick of the bunch a corner which picked out Elliott who volleyed neatly home.
Elliott – A constant threat down the left, marauding runs up and down the pitch and, as always, deadly in front of goal with 5 goals. Elliott not only is a goal threat but keen to setup teammates too with great passing & crosses making him a super viper to all.
Lily – We missed Lily last week and she showed us why this week as she never allows anyone time on the ball. She wants it more than anyone else, and she is normally gonna get it. Won the ball back countless times and started attacks with great running and passing the ball out wide. Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet this week with a couple of efforts at goal.
Leo – the composed central influence every team needs, Leo was our brilliant game-changer, winning tackles but not just blasting away the danger, picking out teammates to move forward. Another player who was unlucky not to get a goal as had a couple of chances at corners but unfortunately blocked. Fab performance as always.
Thomas – who had the highlight of the week this week with his first goal in the league for the Vipers, another great corner from Logan and he managed to get to it, before Lily, to direct it home. Full of running as always and even managed a step-over to change direction and start an attack which was amazing to see.
The weather did its best to dampen the spirit of the team, but the they would not let it, the smiles at the end could be seen…. although not for long as everyone ran to get under umbrellas or other forms of shelter and to get dry and warm.
Let’s hope we don’t get washed away next week Vipers…. Awesome always!!
