Adswood United 3-2 New Mills Juniors
This week's game was in the knockout cup, where the Millers travelled to Adswood.
The lads knew this was going to be a tough fixture, but they started the game the brightest.
The build-up play was good, creating good chances and not letting Adswood have time on the ball.
Somewhat against the run of play Adswood took the lead, but the lads showed good character and continued to play, and this was rewarded when Max burst into the box and calmly slotted past the keeper.
The game continued with both teams creating chances but again Adswood took the lead, with the Millers failing to clear the ball.
Once again, the Millers kept going and found themselves level, a lovely through ball from Hazza split the defence, found Mallory who smashed the ball home from a tight angle.
It was 2-2 at half-time.
Second half continued with both teams creating chances, but again it was the home side who took advantage, and found themselves 3-2 up. A change to 3-5-2 formation for the Millers looked to be the answer, and with constant pressure it looked like the Millers would turn the game around, but unfortunately could not find the back of the net this time.
The team lacked a little composure when it mattered most, and maybe on another day we come out with the victory.
Good luck to Adswood in the next round, and the Millers will look to continue with the good start to the season performance wise, and I am sure the hard work will eventually pay off!
Today's POTM went to Mallory, who was unplayable at times, his work-rate and energy was great to see.
