Match Report Manchester FA Girls County Cup U12: NMJFC U12 Girls vs Tika Taka U12 Toones - 27/09/2026
Today the girls took on a huge challenge in the Manchester FA Girls County Cup, facing a very strong intercity side playing at academy level. We knew it would be a difficult game, but despite the odds, I honestly couldn't be prouder of every single girl who stepped onto that pitch today.
Florence took on the challenge in goal and showed absolutely no fear. She wasn't scared to go to the ball, made some really good saves and continued to battle right until the final whistle. Stevie was a rock at central centre-back. She got stuck in, defended strongly and never backed away from a challenge. Poppy to her right was absolutely everywhere, working tirelessly to stop attacks and constantly putting herself in the right place to help the team.
Martha on Stevies left worked incredibly hard, running her socks off and marking players well throughout the game.
Evie in the middle put in a brilliant shift, pushing forward whenever she could and calmly looking for opportunities in front of goal.
Ava on the left showed plenty of attacking intent and got a couple of shots away, while Annabella on the right worked tirelessly, defending strongly and pushing forward whenever possible.
Up front, Paige and Millie worked hard against a very strong defence. Paige had a couple of good efforts on goal, while Millie produced a lovely free kick and continued to look for opportunities to create something for the team.
A special mention must also go to Iris, who stepped up from the U11s to help out the team today. She got stuck in, worked hard and wasn't afraid of the challenge. She should be incredibly proud of herself for stepping up and helping out today!
There were moments when decisions didn't go our way and moments when the girls could easily have let their heads drop. They didn't. They kept running, kept battling and kept encouraging each other. And that's why today's Player of the Day goes to the WHOLE TEAM! 🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛 Every single girl deserves that recognition.
They all played brilliantly, gave everything they had and represented the team, and New Mills on home soil with so much pride.
The score line may not have gone our way, but today wasn't about giving up when the challenge became difficult. It was about standing up, fighting for each other and giving everything until the final whistle.
Girls, you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves today. I know I am incredibly proud of every single one of you. Hold your heads high. You earned that today.
