The Millers started the quarter-final brightly and took an early lead after Greg won a penalty following a clumsy challenge in the box. Bobby despatched the penalty superbly.
The Millers were winning all the early battles and defending strongly, with Mayson and Fletcher doing a great job for the team in the full-back roles. Alfie and Stan marshalled the centre-back positions with confidence and assured play.
Bobby and Jess worked hard as a two, and Gregory linked the play for Darragh, Greeny and Bertie to attack the Middleton back line with menace.
Bobby then turned provider for the second goal with an assist for Darragh, who finished superbly.
Jess provided another super assist to Darragh, who smashed in his second of the game with real confidence.
The Millers were on top now and controlled the game for the rest of the half.
Bertie then got in on the assists with an excellent pass for Greeny, who despatched into the far corner for his first goal for the club.
Middleton replied with a 25-yard goal of real quality to take us into half-time with a deserved 4–1 lead.
Daniel came on for Stan to keep up the defensive energy levels, and Alex came on at left-back, with Mayson moving into the central striker role. The team continued playing good football, and the Middleton keeper made several good saves to keep the Millers at bay.
Another long-range effort into the top corner made the score 4–2.
Tommy came on in the CAM role for Greg and created some good attacks, linking with Mayson and Bertie before testing the keeper on a couple of occasions.
The Millers continued to attack, and another slide-rule pass from Bobby saw Darragh complete his hat-trick.
The Millers progress on to the cup semi-final.
Player of the match was deservedly awarded to Fletcher — a really solid display at full-back for the team. Fletcher has been a fantastic addition to the squad and continues to improve week on week.
