Match report New Mills Junior's U9's vs Chapel Town Titans U10's - 21/09/25

Season 3 - Episode 3: Four-midable Myles!

After an early morning pitch inspection it was game on at the Macclesfield Stadium, the sun was beaming and the under 9's were raring to go! Clear instructions from the coaches - pass and move, work hard and get some goals ⚽️⚽️

Max and Teddy controlled most of the first half at the back, communicating with eachother constantly and reading the danger when Chapel went on the attack. Max scored two outstanding goals, the first was a long range effort that found its way in and the second was a mazy run that ended with a goal! We pushed them both forward in the 2nd half which meant the game opened up more, Teddy linked up brilliantly in the final third and was rewarded when his thunderous strike from outside the box nestled into the net, awesome lads! He always plays in defence so it was great to see Ned come on to play upfront in the first half, he was so unlucky not to get his first goal, it's only a matter of time! His tackling was brilliant as always but he was much more composed on the ball, urged on by the coaches to carry the ball forward, he's improving every week. Ryan was relentless again, driving us forward and tracking back to get his tackles in. A selfless display, always cutting the ball back for his team mates to shoot, huge improvement from Ryan over the summer, he's really starting to understand what the team needs from him on that left hand side!

Harrison is looking right at home in his new role in midfield, full of beans, winning the ball back and playing it to the forwards, he was great today! Just like the a6 on the way home the midfield was so congested... but he found some space in the second half and grabbed himself another tidy goal! It was a shaky start between the sticks for Reuben, after a miskick that nearly went in and a Chapel 1v1 that went in off his bum he was under the spotlight... after a grilling from his Dad he finished the game strong with some brave blocks and a great save towards the end. Leon and Mia lead the line brilliantly, chasing down the Chapel defence when they played out from the back and forcing them into mistakes. Some nice forward play with both of them unlucky not to be involved in the goals today!

Someone who was certainly in amongst the goals today was Myles... pfffttt! What a performance! After setting his mates up last week it was his turn today, his first coming when everyone fell asleep in the Chapel box (including us) but Myles was switched on and slammed it home! The finish was only 5 yards out but his hunger to get there before everyone else was 10/10! After a quick pep talk from coach Joe it was time to crank it up a notch and a 2nd half hatrick from Myles was nothing more than he deserved! Every goal bringing massive cheers from the parents, his mates all chuffed to bits for him! He's a vital part of this team, he's genuinely one of the nicest kids you will meet, our player of the match was a no brainer this week, relentless and clinical, big smiles for Myles 🏆

Back to back derbies with our mates from Chapel and with some tough fixtures on the horizon, our under 9's are in a good place. They had a great week in training and it showed on the pitch, always listening and working hard for eachother. Keep it up kids 💛🖤
