Match Report: New Mills Juniors U7-v-Bramhall North 75 Lions Black U7

NMJFC U7's vs Bramhall North 75 Lions Blacks, and a scurry for the parents & coaches to find parking spaces for this late fixture.

New Mills were without Tobias for this one, so inevitably there would be a missing part of this growing team.

Angus volunteered to be goalkeeper for the first half, and with a little warm up of passing & shooting, the U7’s were ready to go.

Charlie alongside Henry in defence, Seb on the left, Joseph on the right, and Alfred up front.

Our gamechanger today, Ollie on the touchline with the coaches, awaiting the arrival of our other gamechanger, Louie.

The game started brightly with the two teams going toe to toe. Bramhall clearly had some talent out there, but New Mills matched them on every part of the pitch. 

When under pressure Seb & Joseph tracked back to assist, and New Mills did well to absorb the waves of Bramhall attacks.

If you've seen U7's before, you would know they only have one thing in mind: whether it's a clearance from defence, or the midfield digging in to regain possession, New Mills drove forward at every opportunity, and were beginning to rattle the Bramhall defence. 

Time for fresh legs, on go Louie & Ollie, Louie sliding into defence & Ollie doing what he knows.

Another little shuffle before half time, mostly due to "when can I go back on", but coming in for half time, the boys were in good spirit.

The second half starts, with a surprise goalkeeper volunteer in Charlie, and Angus outfield for this half.

There were some New Mills players looking a little tired, but Angus made the difference. Energy, all over the pitch. He was placed in midfield, and covered every blade of grass. That energy spread across the team to own the second half.

Ollie had chances, Joseph too; Alfred in great positions; Henry the engine, always troubling the opposition, Seb likewise, both getting close; Charlie always in the mix; Louie solid in defence & midfield.

A great performance from all NMJFC U7's, but selecting a player of the match was unanimous. It went to a player who gave everything, was all over the pitch, challenged every ball, troubled the opposition in defence & attack, and almost got a goal...
