Today the U7s continued their journey at the PowerLeague with another great game against a great team in Richmond Rovers. As we are getting to the time of year for coughs and colds, we were one team member down due to Alistair being struck down by a bad cold.
Both teams agreed to play 6-a-side and we had our two games changers, ready to come on and make a big difference. We spoke to the players before the match about what we had worked on in training. Playing the ball out of the ”danger-area” in front of goal, playing it wide and forward. The team remembered this brilliantly and took those actions into the game.
What ensued was a great game of football with lots of great play and great enjoyment as could be told by the smiles at full time.
The miniest Millers are really growing every game with confidence in their own abilities and in each other. Not only that but they are starting to believe they can take training actions into games which is really encouraging.
To give some examples this week alone:
Elliott’s tracking back, work-rate and effort was superb.
Kit’s tackling and vocal support – he is becoming a real leader in the team.
Thomas’s confidence to tackle and carry the ball is growing each week.
Leo’s defensive ability is high but this week he starting carrying the ball forward more which was awesome.
Kingsley’s goalkeeping is getting better each week but his reading of danger is improving the more he plays.
Lily is the tackling queen but this week worked so hard to support attacks, defence and pass to her teammates.
Jude is extremely determined and this week worked tirelessly to support his team and is developing his passing game.
Logan’s driving runs are his strength but he is getting his head-up more and more and his passing is really improving each week.
Keep playing and developing U7s – we look forward to next week.
