U12 Liam Edge Cup

New Mills u12 Yellows (6)

Wythenshawe FC Tigers (3)

Back at the location where the boys lifted the cup last year they were in no mood to exit the cup competition early.

With the confidence high and wanting to continue their winning run to a fifth straight win the boys started strong, kept possession and it wasn’t long before Remo ran onto a lovely through ball from Harry P to finish into the bottom corner to give the Millers the lead.

The game turned into more of a physical battle from then with no team willing to let the opposition settle on the ball. New Mills mixed up their play brilliantly and this time Eddie was the provider playing a long ball to Remo who controlled the ball brilliantly before turning and smashing his shot to the roof of the net.

Oli F showed skills consistently up and down the wing always being in the right place at the right time and proofed this by adding New Mills third running onto a cross from the opposite side and calmly finishing giving the keeper no chance.

Oli C pulled off some great saves and with some great defending from Joseph and Eddie made sure the Millers had the lead at half time.

The boys upped the tempo in the second half, passed the ball faster and spread the play to the wings.

Bobby, Harry P and Jimmy took control of the midfield breaking up the play feeding Tyler, Harry F, Oli F and Lucas on the wings.

With the boys enjoying more possession it was only a matter of time before they added to their goal tally and it was that boy Remo again who added New Mills forth and his third.

With a two goal lead the boys finally settled and controlled the last 10 minutes of the game with Remo adding another two goals bringing his goal tally to five for the game.

This was a great game, all the boys showed amazing determination, skill and passion to move to the next round of the cup.

Today's 'brain mat' POTM goes to Remo. Remo’s all round play was magnificent today. Goals aside, he lead the attack brilliantly, back tracked to support the midfielders and was always available for that pass. Well done Remo.
