Match Report NMJFC U10 Girls vs Bollington United U10s Nancy Yellows Girls - 10/05/2025

Today was the final game of the Cheshire Girls League, and what a game it was. Packed with energy, effort, and no shortage of drama - made all the more special as it was Seren’s birthday. She stepped into goal and delivered a composed and confident performance, making key saves and showing smart decision-making by calmly distributing the ball to teammates and away from danger.

At the back, Ava and Annabella formed a solid partnership, instinctively working together to shut down attacks without needing any reminders. Their teamwork and determination gave the opposition little room to breathe.

Out on the left, Millie was a constant thorn in the side of the defenders. Cutting inside onto her right foot, she created confusion with her quick turns and purposeful runs. She came close to scoring with a shot that skimmed over the bar and another that rattled the post.

On the opposite flank, Emily impressed with her tactical awareness - dropping back when needed and driving forward to break up play and transition into attack. In the middle, a revitalised Jessica was everywhere: making tackles, picking out passes, and tirelessly covering ground. Her intensity was infectious. And leading the line, Agnes was relentless in her pressing, harrying defenders and creating space for Millie and Emily to push forward.

Later, the team welcomed Ebony, Paige, and Poppy onto the pitch. Poppy slotted into the left side of defence seamlessly, linking well with Annabella to stifle attacks. She wasn’t afraid to drive forward either, stepping into midfield and making a few strong runs. Ebony added flair in the middle with clever drag backs and silky passes that unlocked space, while Paige made an instant impact up front. A sharp through-ball from Jessica set her free, and Paige didn’t hesitate - smashing home a powerful shot to find the back of the net.

In the second half, Jessica took over in goal and showed no fear, racing off her line when needed and pulling off a sharp save off the post amongst many. Her distribution was sharp, particularly down the right. Poppy continued to dominate defensively, getting her foot to everything. Ava made driving runs down the left, and Annabella pushed into midfield, causing trouble with direct runs down the centre.

Seren, now outfield, showed great control on the left wing and worked tirelessly to chase the ball. Paige was a constant force in midfield, using her strength and footwork to win back possession. Emily dropped into defence and played smart passes forward, including one that found Annabella and led to an interception and a renewed attack. Millie capped off a strong performance with a perfectly timed tackle and threaded a lovely through ball to Ebony, who calmly slotted it home for a well-earned goal.

It was a day where many players could have taken the Player of the Week award, but in the end, it went to Poppy. Her tireless work, coachability, and consistency stood out. She’s come a long way this season - and truthfully, so have all the girls. Today was a proud moment, the perfect finale to a season full of progress, teamwork, and heart. Well done girls!
