Match Report NMJFC U10 Girls vs Macclesfield Town Ladies U10s 01/02/2025

A couple of our talented girls were performing in our local pantomime this week, meaning we had just 8 girls to play against this untested Macclesfield side.

The match started with Jessica in goal, though the solid defensive work ahead of her meant she had little to do. However, when called upon, she distributed the ball well, ensuring smooth transitions from defence to attack. Ava and Ebony held the backline with confidence, reading the game effectively and making crucial tackles. Their ability to push the ball forward allowed the team to maintain attacking momentum.

In midfield, Paige, Annabella, and Millie worked tirelessly, covering ground, making good runs, and taking shots on goal. All the girls impressed with their seamless moves between attack and defence. Up front, Agnes was a constant menace to the opposition’s defence, keeping their backline under pressure and taking a shot on goal.

As the first half progressed, Emily was introduced, initially replacing Agnes in the forward position. Her precise passing contributed to the team’s fluid attacking play, and the breakthrough came when Millie found the back of the net after a well-worked move involving Ebony and Paige, capping off a strong first-half performance for our girls.

In the second half, Ava took her turn in goal, and made some excellent saves. While Annabella dropped into defence, Jessica moved up front and brought energy to the attack, creating chances and testing the opposition’s keeper. Our girls absolutely dominated the game, moving the ball well between them and applying relentless pressure, but despite their efforts, additional goals proved elusive. 

The team’s passing was excellent, demonstrating their growing cohesion and understanding of the game. Several players stood out for their contributions in today's match, but in the end, Millie earned Player of the Week for her tireless running and commitment throughout the match. It was a strong team performance overall, highlighting the girls’ progress and determination as they continue to develop their skills on the pitch. Well done girls!
