Today's game was packed with energy, determination, and flashes of brilliance as the girls lined up for another exciting match. Annabella started in goal, clearly nervous to begin with – it’s not her favourite position – but she quickly found her footing. With some confident early saves and composed passes out from the back, she settled in and began to shine. In defence, Emily took the left side and delivered a strong performance full of hard tackles and clever movement. Always eager to press forward, she added momentum to each attack. On the right, Ebony played a smart and disciplined role, staying back when needed and surging forward when Emily dropped. She even moved into central positions during attacks without needing to be asked, showing real game intelligence. Together, Emily and Ebony formed a solid and reliable defensive pair.
Seren operated on the left wing and made some great driving runs with the ball, managing her position well and drifting centrally when the play required. Poppy, on the opposite wing, ever growing in confidence and skill, began taking on players willingly and distributed the ball well. In the centre, Jessica was busy and effective, always getting stuck in and picking out some excellent passes. All eyes were on Paige up top, and she didn’t disappoint. Although up against a strong goalkeeper from Reddish, she carved out several good chances and impressed with her intelligent positioning and awareness.
As the match wore on, changes were made, Millie came on with one goal in mind—literally. She pressed hard, ran with intent, and caused the opposition defence real problems. Ava replaced Poppy on the right and looked composed and aware, timing her runs well and reading the game smartly. Agnes slotted into the midfield role in place of Jessica and made an immediate impact. Her presence was felt—closing down quickly, disrupting play, and feeding the ball forward into dangerous areas. It paid off when Millie scored a superb goal following a run down the left and a clinical finish into the net.
In the second half, Poppy took over goalkeeping duties and didn’t disappoint. She was sharp and focused, pulling off some excellent saves and showing growing confidence between the posts. Annabella moved into defence alongside Ava, and the pair were solid—anticipating danger and blocking Reddish’s advances effectively. Ebony moved up the right flank, with Paige shifting into the middle and Millie continuing to press alongside Agnes. Ebony made a real impact from her new position, breaking down opposition plays and sending a superb long ball forward to Millie, who chased it down and scored her second goal in style.
Agnes remained a constant thorn in Reddish’s side, applying pressure and moving the ball quickly. Jessica returned with some neat passes and clever runs, while Emily continued to cover the length of the pitch, surging forward like a yo-yo and hustling back to defend when needed. There were near-misses from both Millie and Paige, each hitting the post, but it was Seren who had the final say. After a well-timed pass from Paige, she calmly slotted the ball into the far corner, sealing a strong performance.
Player of the Week went to Ebony for her outstanding all-round play. She was a rock in defence, a threat going forward, and delivered a sublime through-ball that reflected the work being done in training.
The match ended with a heart-warming presentation—each girl receiving a trophy from the league in recognition of their efforts. Their hard work, sportsmanship, and team spirit have brought them far, and it’s clear they have a bright and exciting future ahead. Well done girls!
