Match Report NMJFC U10 yellows - 08/10/23
Yellows v Hayfield
On a hot sunny Sunday afternoon with emotions running high for this fixture we knew we would have to be on top form to compete with probably the best team in the league. Team talk before kick off was more of the same from last week and this week’s captain Robbie adding more communication required.
The Yellows set off slow and were caught on the back foot giving an early goal away. This pressure continued straight from the restart with Hayfield closing down the Yellows quickly causing Zak to make several fantastic saves to keep us in the game.
Substitutes were needed as some players struggled with the heat.
Nathan came on and chased every ball closing down the striker’s and keeping it tight at the back.
Midfield working better towards half time, Robbie and Sammie making it hard work for the Hayfield back two.
Yellows needed halftime to come so they could re group and take on water.
After a good talking to at halftime the yellows agreed they need to up their game and in the second half they really did.
Archie ⚽️ consistently putting the pressure on with Angus, Lucas ⚽️ and Franky backing it up.
Rowan making crucial tackles and everyone upping their game we looked like a different team.
Change of shape in moving Poppy up front to press helped keep Hayfield on ropes .
Definitely a game of two halves this afternoon and lots of positive play in the second half made for another great game.
