Match Report NMJFC U10Hornets - 29/03/25

So Game 3 of 6 in this New Champions League Style Cup Fixture for the Hornets. Another unknown and NEW one for us this season.. Reddish North Blue's today, one of our League opponents...

We started out knowing that we were missing the Heywood Family, Kai and Ollie M....😔 So time to call in Leo for some extra support for the boys...💪 Not forgetting Coach Colette to steady my nerves….❤

Having a single sub can be a blessing and also a curse, however the boys all stepped up to the plate. A single instruction - Play like you did last week and we'll do great. And boy did they listen to that....👍👍

From the off, our defence was set with Finley, Oliver L and Ronan and Fenn keeping the back safe. These boys were like a steel gate, keeping their attackers at bay time after time and driving the ball forward to our Forwards.... This is where we had Albie, Oliver B and Charlie.

These boys were relentless with Albie and Oliver feeding some great balls through to Charlie, who could of been on score sheet a few times in the 1st half.

Several near misses. Leo took over for Charlie to give him a break from the running he was doing down that right hand side... Now Leo with his speed was trying more link ups with both Oliver and Albie but again they stopped us. You could sense something was coming but it was just the whistle for half time...😁

A calm half time chat with CC (Coach Colette) and myself and they were back out there.

Exactly what myself and Joe have been asking of them week and week. Played out from the back, passed down the line and Charlie takes control and runs to goal and BOOM... ⚽

The Hornets were in the driving seat. Unfortunately, this is where our boys often sense goals coming and keep pushing forward. We had a spell from our opponents for around 5 minutes where they had several corners. Fenn (MOTM)🏆, kept us in there time after time and pushed it away or scooped it up into Safe hands. However, with their 2 massive lads, one was going to go in and a perfectly placed header rocked us...😔

We continued to attack with several near misses and the action was end to end....👏👏

A great result for both teams in the end and their coaches commented on a superb game that had them as nervous as myself... We play them again next week, so get ready to rumble again.....⚽🖤💛⚽❤👏👏
