Today the U10s faced Hazel Grove United Jets at a new venue, Stockport Academy, in the Stockport Metro League.
The boys started brightly. Although the play was a little scrappy at times, they enjoyed more of the ball and created chances, putting the Jets under real pressure at the back.
Despite this, it was the Jets who struck first against the run of play. New Mills responded well, though, keeping up the pressure and pushing hard for an equaliser.
In the second half, New Mills began to find more rhythm. Teddy was quickest to react after a saved shot, tucking the rebound away, and Rhys added another moments later.
The final minutes saw the Jets pile forward, testing our defence right to the whistle. James and the back line stood firm, blocking and clearing everything that came their way.
It was a tough game that demanded hard work, discipline, and determination from every player.
A big well done to our Player of the Match, Pavak, who was outstanding in defence—strong, tireless, and letting nothing past him.
