Match Report NMJFC U11 Boys v Reddish North End Reds - 15/10/23.
I’m not sure if it was a slow start from our lads or a fast start from Reddish but it wasn’t long before our lads knew they were in for a hard day at the office today.
Giving Reddish plenty of space and time on the ball made it hard but as usual our lads didn’t stop trying, if anything the slow start made them more determined to get themselves into the game.
The defence came under a lot of pressure from the start but as usual Oli C, Eddie, Leyton and Brodie showed they were up for the challenge with their fearless defending.
The midfielders today were Sam, Harry P, Remo, Bobby, Leighton, Oli F & Harry F who all worked their socks off today helping with their defensive duties and attacking at every opportunity.
The teams share of guts and determination was rewarded with a well taken goal from Bobby midway through the first half.
This gave the boys the confidence to start taking a touch, not panicking and play their passing game. The boys created more chances and were unlucky not to add to their goal tally before half time.
The second half saw another battling performance with some great shot stops from Oli C and some great tactical play from our midfielders with courageous defending from Leyton and the rest of the defenders, all cheered on by the injured Jamie who is counting the days down before he can be back on the pitch with his teammates again.
New Mills had some great chances, and several shots that other days would have resulted in more goals, but as the Van Morrison song goes “there’ll be days like this”.
The ‘brain-mat’ sponsored player of the match goes to Leyton this week for a great display in defence today.
