U11 girls vs Marple
It was a tough game vs Marple earlier in the season so the girls were determined to impress against them this week. The performance today was possibly the best of the season and resulted in a cracking game of football.
During the first half the girls first played some really amazing football.
Isla, Lily, Brooke And Elsie passed the ball well between them as Marple were camped inside their own half.
Marple’s keeper was good so it would take something special to open the scoring and the first goal was just that; Brooke picked up the ball, beat a couple of players and from a narrow angle scored with her left foot. One of the better goals we’ve seen this season.
Defensively the girls looks solid. Erin and Emily were winning tackle after tackle and passed the ball well into midfield.
First sub saw Florence enter the pitch in midfield and she made an immediate impact. Firstly her movement and pass allowed Elsie to pick up the ball and score into the bottom corner. Shortly after Florence caused more problems for the opposition defence and grabbed a goal of her own.
There was still time for another Millers goal in the first half, a second for Brooke who finished well this time with her right foot.
After a half time rest and a few positional changes the second half started and was just as entertaining as the first. The match was end to end with both teams looking dangerous. Elsie, Emily, Brooke and Isla all came close but the ball wouldn’t go in.
Late on Marple were pushing hard for a goal but Millie was on hand to make some smart saves and deal with some dangerous corners. Millie’s solid performance earned her the player of the match trophy.
Well done girls. Just one league match to go in what has been a great season.
