Match Report NMJFC U11 Girls vs FC Bluestar U11 Zodiacs 18/04/2026

There was a real sense of occasion ahead of the penultimate game of the season, with just one league fixture left before the summer break.

Millie took her place in goal and delivered a strong, assured performance. She handled everything that came her way with confidence and, just as importantly, distributed the ball brilliantly. Her kicking was a real asset, repeatedly putting the team on the front foot and helping to turn defence into attack in an instant.

At the back, Stevie and Martha formed a solid defensive partnership. Stevie read the game superbly, intercepting the ball time and again and showing great strength in the challenge. Alongside her, Martha put in a number of important tackles and wasn’t afraid to push forward when the opportunity arose, adding an extra dimension to the team’s play.

In midfield, Annabella, Evie and Ava worked tirelessly. Annabella came close on a couple of occasions, only to be denied by some good saves from the opposition keeper. Ava was relentless down the left-hand side, covering huge ground and also testing the keeper. Evie matched that work rate, getting up and down the pitch and also having a shot on goal, showing great determination throughout.

Leading the line, Poppy D played an intelligent game, often dropping back into midfield to collect the ball before driving forward again. Her movement created opportunities, and she was always willing to have a go at goal, keeping the opposition defence busy.

As the game progressed, Florence, Paige and Jessica were introduced. Jessica gave everything, running her socks off. Paige looked dangerous, getting a couple of good shots away, while Florence impressed with her footwork and movement, showing growing confidence on the ball.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Stevie and Martha continuing to work hard in defence before a reshuffle saw Ava and Annabella drop back. The breakthrough moment came from sheer determination – Annabella won the ball with a strong tackle and sent it forward with purpose, setting up Paige to score a brilliant goal that our girls fully deserved.

Millie remained solid in goal to the end, while Evie, Poppy D, Jessica and Florence all put in tremendous running, never letting the intensity drop. It was a real team performance, with every player contributing, supporting each other and playing their part. The teamwork on display made it a joy to watch from start to finish.

After the final whistle, the occasion was rounded off in perfect fashion as the girls received their medals, a well-earned reward for all their effort and progress over the course of the season.

Choosing a Player of the Week was no easy task, with several standout performances across the pitch. In the end, it went to Florence, who had an excellent game. Her footwork, movement and willingness to learn really stood out, and it’s clear she’s taking on board the coaches’ advice and putting it into practice. A well-deserved recognition –well done, Florence!
