Match Report NMJFC U11 girls vs Tintwistle - 24/02/24
No Erin or Isla meant that the girls were down to just 7 players today with no subs. Each and every player stepped up, worked hard and put in a great performance
From the off the Millers were on it and scored a couple of quick goals. The first one was a clinical finish from Elsie and the second was a good goal from Brooke.
Tintwistle slowly came into the game and managed a few attacks of their own, but New Mills had Mille in goal who was good as always. Midway through the half a long kick from Millie set Brooke away who finished well past the keeper.
Impressive today was the passing from the whole of the team. A great example of this is Emily who brings the ball out well from the back and plays lots of good balls to the midfield and forwards.
Standout performances in midfield came from Lily and Tallulah. Both worked hard defensively and were a threat going forward.
On the wing Brooke was outstanding. She caused the opposition defenders problems all game and deservedly grabbed herself a hat trick before half time.
During the break we decided to mix the team up and play some players in different positions. Florence and Elsie swapped positions with Elsie going in defence and Florence leading the line up front. Watching the second half you would not have known these were unusual positions. Florence was great as a striker and was unlucky not to score.
The Millers final goal of the game came from a corner. Brooke played the ball to the near post and on the volley Elsie found the corner of the net.
Tough call for player of the game as each player staked a case for the trophy. It was decided to give Tallulah 🏆 the award as she put in a great performance.
