U11 Girls vs Stockport Dynamos
The girls lined up today with Millie in goal, Lily and Florence in defence, a midfield three of Brooke, Isla & Emily and Elsie up front. No subs meant the 7 players would have to work hard for the full game and to their credit they did just that.
Right from the first whistle today Lily was dominant on the pitch and really stood out. She won tackles and played numerous passes forward to start attacks. Alongside her in defence Florence as good as usual.
The passing overall today was great and a good move involving Emily and Isla resulted in the first goal with Elsie finding the corner. Shortly after Brooke scored with a fantastic finish high into the net.
Elsie and Brooke had worked on a short corner routine at training and early on it nearly paid off; Brooke cutting inside but the ball struck against the bar. Just before half time Elsie scored again, her long range shot taking a deflection passed the keeper.
Despite a few positional changes at half time the good football continued into the second half. It’s good to see the confidence in the team playing the ball out from the back and into feet. Isla Emily and Lily were brilliant at this today.
Midway through the second half Florence nearly turned the ball home from a corner but the ball fell to Elsie who made no mistake in scoring yet another hat-trick.
Stockport attacked well at times towards the end of the game and the Millers defended well when required Millie was decisive in goal when called upon.
Final goal of the game arrived late on from the captain; Lily played a great through ball to Emily who raced clear and put the ball into the corner of the net.
Good team performance from all today and the teamwork displayed by the group is great to see.
Deserved player of the match today trophy for Lily who was outstanding.
