Match Report NMJFC U11s Scorpions vs U11 Hillgate - 05/10/25

This morning we were fortunate enough to get a little bit of a break from storm Amy’s rampage. Meeting with a new opponent in Hillgate… this is what being in a new league is all about. 

With David missing we called in reinforcements with Frankie H but the plan was the same as every other match. We play our game!

Going on the attack early really worked with Ted and Leo forcing the ball up the wing. A lovely cross came over for Dylan to finish⚽️. 

But, it was an end to end game and Hillgate were up for the fight. Straight through the middle left Frankie to stop some powerful shots. 

Leo may not have had his rocket boots on this morning (due to being a little under the weather) but he was making some nice passes….. then the ball came out onto the right and just perfect for a well placed chip shot from out of the box ⚽️ 

Ted turned up loaded today and was looking to pull the trigger at any opportunity that he could. Some nice footwork but running into 3 defenders doesn’t pay off very often. 

Alfie got a delightful through ball from Rocco T in front of him. He made a nice transition putting the ball on his left foot and slipping behind the keeper. Unlocking special ability Mr Ambidextrous ⚽️  Alfie was always in there and looking for a cross / shot. 

The Scorpions won a corner, and by skill and a bit of help from the wind, Leo scored from the corner ⚽️ 

Rocco T refused to be bullied and would fight his way through any tussle, earning himself a penalty. He earned it he deserved it…… he buried it ⚽️ 👍🏻

Will and Callum had a lot more coming at them this week and they had to put a lot of work in to keep the opposition out of our area. Their defensive game was tested today and they refused to give up. The Hillgate players were all over our defenders, but they stood firm. 

Rocco K managed to get around the pitch a bit more this week. Attacking, defending and even saving a shot with his face. Ouch… but thank you (Roc was ok after a quick check and a thumbs up …. hard a nails is our Rocco K 👊🏻)

Frankie H turned up knowing his assignment. He played incredible as a CB. Protecting the box and our GK very well, so thanks to Frankie H 👍🏻

Player of the Match this week goes to our GK Frankie the cat. Some incredible saves, Some excellent dashing off his line and almost a goal. But saving that free kick alone at the end earned the trophy this week.
