Match Report NMJFC U12 girls - 06/04/24

NMJFC U12 girls Vs FC Bluestar.

Firstly, nice to be back to playing after a cancelled game and Easter break and secondly for us coaches to turn up and have the squad warming up by themselves with no instructions is fantastic.

Positivity throughout today in what was a scrap of a game giving our back line of Lily, Izzy & Mia plenty to do as Bluestar were quick to break away on goal.

The whole game seemed hard for us to patiently pass the ball around and with balls over the top end to end, finally, it fell to Nieve’s feet who struck from far out, straight down the centre, only to ricochet off the cross bar but bounce off a blue to get the opening goal.

Great vision from our Number 7.

We had plenty of shots in this game but the midfield battle throughout was proving difficult to get it out from our feet and into decent space.

Shots from Jaz & Scarlett who had some great 1/2s and Alissa on the other wing making great runs with the ball, especially in the second half, just to get closed down before getting it in the box.

Bluestar equalised with a great finish and a first for their number 58 that season bless her.

Second half, great commitment and attitude but Bluestar again took us by surprise from Taylor’s goal kick and secured the lead.

Seemed to have plenty of decisions given to Bluestar even with much physicality down the left so praise for the resilience shown by the New Mills side.

Del pushing through with determination also took her chances and was unlucky to not find the back of the net, good pressure you were putting on their keeper.

With the minutes ticking down Grace was eager to get back on the pitch, with 4 minutes to go with a surge forward from the yellows, Grace pushed the ball across the line for her first for the New Mills side, assisted by Nieve and wonderfully celebrated by the whole team.

Those firsts, those celebrations, those memories are what it’s all about. Well done team, we take a point for the draw leaving us 4th in our table and biting at the heels of the team above with a one point difference.

Our player of the match today, as always, plays with a smile on her face, solid midfield play and vision throughout today’s game, it’s our lucky number Nieve.
