Match Report NMJFC U12 Girls - 27/01/24
Vs Brooklands Dragons
Back on the muddy grass pitch with another goal fuelled game. Slight change of formation to get some players up the pitch, seeing Nieve take more of an attacking position and what a sterling job she did too and dominated that midfield.
New Mills girls getting boxed in by multiple Brooklands players forcing them to work hard, shield and hold up play for an option.
The calmness in our backline today of Mia, Lily and Izzy enabled the rest of the players to trust them on the ball and find good space. Few minutes into the first half Jaz opened the scoresheet with a beautiful first touch strike and then for Del to follow up a few minutes later with a great turn outside the box to find the bottom left corner.
Bit of scrap throughout this game where players were sucked into the central lane but Nieve setting up Scarlett to get past the keeper with her first goal of the game. Again, Jaz battled through the Brooklands defence to find the back of the net and then managing to keep the ball in the attacking third and awarded another corner, Nieve floated in a great ball for Jaz to notch up her increasing goal tally.
Seeing us into halftime with another from Scarlett the girls refuelled and were ready to go again.
Converting corners to goals seemed to be the theme of the day and top assister Nieve again finding Scarlett who secured the finish for a hattrick with good pace down the right and from a defensive position later in the game.
Another corner, another New Mills goal, this time a long awaited one for Georgie who put 110% in training and busted a gut in this game, celebrated wonderfully by the rest of the team.
Shout out to Alissa who took on instructions from the sidelines and was a threat to the Brooklands keeper.
Well done to their number one who played all her game with a smile which was admired by all, what a good sport, at one point a few players ended up in a heap in the goal mouth and she was still laughing! A bit of confusion in the opposition’s goal mouth moments later enabled Brooklands to find the back of the net but with some well thought out football and a great through ball from Jaz, Scarlett finished for us with her fourth.
Taylor also took onboard what we’d done in training and had a great game, snappier goal kick decisions and good wide distribution of the ball, well done.
By no means an easy game despite the goals but the girls worked hard and showed great skill in parts.
Good positivity and support throughout the ranks.
Our player of the match today who obviously went out to prove herself went to Georgie. Both coaches impressed with her at training and in this game! Well done.
