U12 girls vs Stockport Dynamos
Top of the table clash between a couple of evenly matched teams. This was an end to end match, full of goals with the New Mills girls eventually recording another victory.
Starting line up was Millie in goal; Erin, Neve and Evie at the back; Lily H and Esme centre midfield; Florence and Brooke out wide with Lily D playing as striker. Isla, Emily, Penny Lucie and Ella started sub but all came on to play an important part in the game.
Safe to say that the first 15-20 minutes was all Stockport. They scored early and created chances. The Millers struggled to get out of their own half early on but when they did the pace of Lily D was too much for the opposition defence. Lily raced clear to score a couple of goals but as we approached the break Stockport Dynamos had four. On the stroke of half time Lily grabbed a third meaning the girls went in at half time 4-3 down.
A re-group at the interval and some positive words from the captain Lily H inspired the girls in the second half.
A dangerous corner from Isla resulted in a smart finish from Lily D to make it 4-4.
Both teams pushed for a winner but it was New Mills who took the lead. Some great midfield play by Lucie released Lily D for her fifth goal.
Stockport pushed for a leveller but New Mills were the stronger team late on. The win was assured when Brooke drilled the ball home.
Final score Stockport Dynamoes 4-6 New Mills.
Player of the Match went to Lily D for the brilliant finishing. Top performances of note also from Isla Lucie Emily and Florence.
