Match report NMJFC u12 v High Lane u12 - 12/01/24

A fantastic game played in superb spirit with some great goals and superb defending from both teams.

The Millers started this game brightly controlling the play well with Daniel, Bobby and Cookie winning their duals and feeding the ball into Indi and Mayson, who looked to play forward at every opportunity.

Darragh and Bertie both threatened down the wings and Dan W was leading the line well, holding the ball allowing our midfield to join up and create chances.

The Millers opened the scoring as play was switched quickly from left to right and Bertie finished calmly into the bottom corner.

The second came quickly after fantastic passing combinations down the wing saw Bertie cross and Darragh scored with a controlled finish.

The Millers were in the ascendancy with Mayson and Indi controlling the centre of the pitch superbly.

Indi had to go off with an injury and Gregory came on to add his calm passing and clever play to the Millers attack.

High Lane then scored a super goal with an excellent right wing cross finished well at the back post. High Lane pushed for an equaliser and Cole made several brave interceptions to help the Millers stay in the lead until half time.

The Millers started the second half conceding immediately to another well taken goal.

This spurred the Millers into life Harry T and Alex added energy to the team with their endeavour and hard work this was backed Cookie who drove the team forward with bravery and energy.

After several good attacks where the finish was missing, Cookie smashed home to put the Millers back in the lead and they grew from there.

More good attacking play saw Mayson hit the bar from distance and Darragh narrowly lift his shot high after another strong Bertie run.

The fourth goal was a thing of beauty as Darragh jinked past two players and then lifted the ball over the keeper into the top corner with that wand of a left foot.

Another strong spirited performance from the group with lots to admire, the bravery and energy shown by Alex in the second half saw him rightly awarded the player of the match this week.

Up the mini millers 💛🖤
