Match report NMJFC U12 V Sale United Cobras - 27/9/26 - Manchester County Cup
The day had finally arrived. Our boys have played their games on “Centralised Venues” since U7's so excluding summer tournaments, this was our 'Competitive Debut' on home turf.
24 hours previously, the lads put in a dominant display against Blue Star Cosmos and with one eye on the Manchester County Cup tie, we manged to rotate the players frequently and secured a 5-0 victory with Ronan⚽️⚽️⚽️ scoring a brilliant hat-trick and Kai continuing his great start to the season with a beautiful brace⚽️⚽️.
All the boys got loads of game time and every single one of them put in a fantastic performance 👏
All set then for a nice game of football on Sunday.
9v9 at this age and it was a great first-half with both defences cancelling out the oppositions attack..... almost like a game of chess.
What happened next was nothing like chess. We were down to 8 players after Rocco K seen red.
Half-time couldn't come quick enough and we came up with a game plan to see out the tie. The boys did us proud and were by far the best team in the second half creating chances and dominating the game.
We thought we had pulled of a master-stroke when Kai-Bosh lobbed the keeper from a quick throw-in with just a couple of minutes to go but the goal was disallowed.
As we prepared for penalties when Sale sneaked the winner and the kids hearts were broken.
What us coaches witnessed next will never be forgotten. The passion, desire and utter love of the game had our boys in tears and we couldn't have been prouder of every single one of them. THESE BOYS CARE!
Today you learnt that life is not always fair! How you conducted yourselves there after and the way you responded shows character, belief and a refusal to give up. You've learnt important life lessons and this will have a massive impact the young men you're growing into and the beginning of your high school journey too 💪
