On a cold afternoon at Ollersett fields, the Millers took to the pitch in a positive and confident manner.
Hazza distributed well from the back and made a couple of solid saves. Cole, Indi and Dan defended well against a lively Whaley attack.
Cookie, Jess and Mayson battled hard in midfield to try and control the game.
Freddie worked hard to pressure the Whaley defence.
Chances were created for both teams with both keepers making good saves.
Whaley took the lead through a penalty and then scored another with an incisive attack.
The Millers reacted well but could not convert chances created.
Half time came and the shape and some changes were made Stan V went up top Lincoln went to full back and Darragh came on the left wing. Darragh making an immediate impact beating his man to cut onto his right foot and curl into the top of the net.
Almost immediately Whaley restored the two goal lead with a wonder strike which flew into the top corner.
The Millers pressed hard for the last fifteen minutes and created lots of good attacks but they couldn’t find a way past the Whaley keeper who was outstanding throughout.
The pressure eventually paid off with Darragh delivering two excellent corners and Jess bundling the ball home from close range.
Whaley continued to be a threat on the counter attack and Cole marshalled the back line superbly with Archie making several high quality saves to keep the Millers in the game.
Over all a strong performance showing team spirit and grit when up against it.
POTM went to Cole for controlling the defence especially second half which was the platform for the team to rescue a draw, well done Cole 👊
