Match Report NMJFC U13 Girls Vs Buxton Whites - 13/10/24

Early at home kick off, a great atmosphere amongst both coaching teams on the sidelines and a fantastic game of football.

Great pace and battles throughout from both sides.

Pre-match we spoke about staying positive and communicating support for each other, Mia our Captain for today did a fantastic job of motivating her team mates and making sure the opposition were marked, also upped her game in the second half despite the accidental studded foot.

We discussed different people taking corners and how they were going to take them which worked really well and got the back line more involved in the action even with some well taken long range shots from Izzy, love that!

Really want to push these players to be getting on the edge of the box and being more of a threat.  Nice to see they all took on board coaching pointers today.

Buxton did a great job of closing down our players and made it difficult to get through on goal, a lapse in concentration in our goal mouth let the Whites score with a minute to go for half time.

We took a different approach to the kick off today too which also worked really well as we've touched on manipulating the opposition at training, coaches asking the girls to push forward fast and our defenders to hold a brave, higher back line.

Izzy marking & instructing really well, sending Lily forward who we know will not be beaten dropping back to defend, great to see Lily drive forward once she's won possession, super confidence.

Del made some brilliant unselfish decisions on the attack with short sharp passing but was heavily marked and couldn't squeeze through the defenders.

Solid midfield play between Nieve & Annie who both grafted & worked together to get the ball wide to Alissa who equalled the scoreline 5 mins in.

A highlight Nieves's cheeky through ball to Grace, like she eyes in the back of her head!

Good runs from Grace to cover back post from crosses in from Alissa & she was also unlucky not to score. More great decisions from Taylor in net who came out at speed to clear the ball away and deny the shot, quickly taken goal kicks too, great stuff.

A fair equal game today but with no subs for the Millers girls they were flagging and somewhat drifted out of position and let the Whites play, Buxton therefore clinched the lead in the last minute with a great goal. Looking forward to playing them again at the end of November.

Player of the match was again our, take no prisoners CDM, Annie.  Into every tackle, first to the ball, also seized a couple of shots on goals, grating to win it back every time all the while with a smile on her face!

Buxton coaches also impressed with her fearless headers.  Super stuff Annie & well done to all the team who continue to work hard for each other every week & thank you to our parents for helping out after the game.
