Match report NMJFC U13s - 23/10/22
New Mills u13s v Mountfield Rovers u13s
The Millers travelled to Bramhall this morning in miserable conditions. It did stop raining for the warm up then the heavens opened for the whole of the game. ☔️
The Millers were a bit short this week with personnel and had a couple of late absences that meant we only had 10 players , so no subs = no rest.
The game kicked off and Mountfield looked dangerous when countering, as our formation seemed to be inviting a bit of pressure,
they created a change and slotted the ball into the Millers goal.
Half time whistle followed not long after.
2nd half going uphill with 10 men I thought the boys might be in for a bit more of a tougher half. It was the complete opposite, the boys were trying to knock the ball around in horrendous conditions, passing, moving and creating chances of their own.
Some lovely through balls from midfield breaking the Mountfield back line were really causing problems for the home side, and it paid off as New Mills went ahead and then grabbed another shortly after.
Mountfield pressed and for 5 minutes the ball seemed to be stuck in the Millers area, corner after corner swinging in but the Millers did not want to concede another and made sure that didn’t happen.
Final whistle blew to end a thrilling encounter.

Brilliant performance all round today, to play with 10 and graft like we did. Proud of all of the boys 👍🏻.
