Match Report NMJFC U14 girls Vs Buxton Young Bucks Whites - 28/09/25

Early Kick off and instilled the importance of going in straight from the off. They did and with 10 players. Annie-Mae our Captain rallied the team into a great warm up and kept them motivated throughout.

Coaches felt we dominated possession , attacked as a team and kept the opposition out of our half.

The Millers girls held their positions well today and played the best game of football we've seen from them in a while.  Though Buxton defended well, it took until the 30th minute to open the scoreline when Nieve found the back of the net at the far end with an assist from Alissa after some skilful tight passing and excellent communication.

Good energy, physical 1v1s throughout and brilliant supporting play from those off the ball. Some excellent decisions by our keeper Taylor today who also let her defenders know she was there for an option to play it back, she played out from the back really well and executed great long balls to midfield, also coming off her line to clear away in the second half, well done Tay.

Captain's chat at half time was not to rest on a 1 nil lead and close them down more in second half, great advice.

Didn't take long, 2 minutes in and again an assist from Alissa, Nieve squared it, double trouble for the Whites to contend with.

A breakthrough from the right Buxton clawed one back.  The girls dug deep, with no subs, legs were tiring but determination to get the result showed.

Great showing for corners from both left and right, outstanding defending from our back line with our newest player Ruby stepping in a centre back position, being first to the ball and clearing away, fantastic effort Ruby you really impressed us,

Lily calm on the ball, strong shielding play easily, turning her marker and getting across their attackers, huge well done.

Grace had 3 attempts on goal from far out and supported Isla really well in front who ran her socks off all game.  Isla had mentioned before the game about wanting to get better in tackles but today won all her battles and constantly put the keeper under pressure, fantastic resilience well done.

Annie showing her strength on the attack when heavily marked and being first to the ball, love the positioning on the edge of the box on our corners too, well done.

Annie-Mae and Mia in the centre worked hard to intercept any attempt to play through the lines from the Buxton side and second half Mia's dogged determination in tackles showed and with a classic, jaw dropping strike from far out rattled home to make it 3-1,  well deserved team celebration. Talk about seizing an opportunity Mia!

Although they played as a whole team today and each one did their part, held their positions, communicated well, just giving a massive shout out to our left side, Izzy looked like she thoroughly enjoyed this game, supporting Ruby in the back line, getting high up into the action and laying off line hugging balls though the thirds to find Alissa's feet.  The combination play between Alissa and Nieve, who's strength on the ball is incredible to watch, you both lead from the front together which created countless chances for Nieve & was a joy to watch, well done.

Play like that all season girls, regardless of the results, it's great football. Just couldn't choose 1 POTM so they're happy to share, Ruby, Lily & Isla.
