Match Report NMJFC U14s v Reddish North End Blues U14 - 14/09/25

The Millers started their first home game of the season brightly, playing some good football early on and scoring early through Darragh after some sharp passing and a calm finish.

Bobby then scored from the edge of the box with a trademark.

The Millers then took their foot of the gas and Reddish responded superbly scoring 4 goals in quick succession with some great finishing on show from their forwards as the Millers failed to clear the ball or defend long balls over the top.

The team were stunned by the scoreline but still feeling they were in the game got a a third goal with another cool finish from Bobby after Tommy had assisted him.

The half time team talk was mostly based around handling the physicality of the opposition and also making sure we were stronger in the duels and tried to win more second balls when the chance arose.

The work level went up from all of the players and the game changed quickly.

Mayson pressed their back line with Tommy with real intent, whilst at the back Alfie and Stan started to control the Reddish attacks with sharp decision making and commitment in the challenge.

The equaliser came as Bertie who was now giving the Reddish left back a torrid time crossed superbly for Mayson to make it 4-4.

The Millers then took over the game and played some dominant football for the remainder of the game. Tommy scored with a well taken header after an excellent run and cross from Darragh.

Bert then again beat his man and crossed for another finish from Mayson and now this time the Millers would not relinquish control of this game by scoring two more superb goals. Bobby drove home another well taken finish to complete his hatrick after some excellent passing in the build up play.

The final goal in what was a goal fest of a match came from yet another assist from Bertie delivering another superb cross for Bobby to finish off the game with his fourth goal of the game.

The Millers showed real grit in a tough game and competed all over the pitch which was vital to the win. Archie was calm in goal and distributed well.

Alex and Cole were strong in the tackle and won their duels superbly. India was relentless in her approach and strong in the midfield battle.

Overall a real team performance which saw the team awarded Player of the game by the kids themselves.

The coaches were very pleased with the level of commitment and the resilience shown by all the group to earn the points.

Up the millers 💛🖤
