New Mills u15s v Wythenshawe Pumas u15.
The Millers entertained Wythenshawe Pumas at home this week in our first game of the Manchester cup.
We knew nothing about the opposition before the game so was keen to get going and see how we fared.
The first half began and both teams battled to get a foothold of the game both teams producing the odd half chance but nothing really that deserved to take the lead.
The Millers struggled to get going at all, compared to the standard we are now used to seeing at training.
Wythenshawe got a corner just before the break and the Millers were slow in marking up and resulted in the away team taking the lead into the interval. Half time 0-1
The lads regrouped during the break and took on board what the coaches said to them, “play football like you know you can and chances will come.”
Second half was a completely different story the Millers began to carve the Wythenshawe defence apart with some lovely football and soon equalised, then went ahead, Wythenshawe got a couple of goals back late on to give them a fighting chance but the Millers were too strong and again scored 2 quick goals to put the game to bed.
Excellent second half by all.
Brilliant home support also this week which I think spurred the lads on.
Final score 6-3
