Match Report NMJFC U7's v Chapel Town Yellows - 17/12/23

An early start this weekend as we were given the 8:45am Kick-Off and it gives me great pleasure to inform our Mini-Millers Family, this will not be happening again this season. In 2024 the lads will only Kick-Off at 9:30am or 10:30am. The U11’s have now taken that first game so we can enjoy a little more sleep on a Sunday! Merry Christmas to you all 🎅🎄

The actual match was fantastic. Tough competition was to be expected but the boys put 100% into it and it was great to watch. I must say, the referee was top class and even though there was 'Big Tackles' - they were dealt with perfectly.

In goal, Reuben offered to go in First-Half and he was superb. Switched on & watching the ball, he undoubtedly kept New Mills in the game with a few unbelievable saves. Max was ace again in defence & with Teddy just infront, they were both seeing plenty of the ball. Ryan is our secret weapon and when he gets that ball at his feet, you are just waiting for the inevitable goal to follow.

Myles was on is A-Game ⚽️ this weekend and showed us how capable he is when taking-on the opposition. He was sublime at times and when the opportunity to score presented itself, there was only ever going to be one outcome….. Boooom 💥 

Ned is seeing more of the action now and is really beginning to understand his position in defence. This lad is not afraid to get stuck in and made some important interceptions whilst protecting the Mini-Millers goal.

Aiden took his place back in net and followed on from Reuben with some brilliant saves. Aiden was using his feet to pump that ball up the pitch and this allowed Finley a few chances. Any other day they would have ripped the back of the net open but Finn was not feeling 100% and we can’t wait to have him back firing again.

Player of the Match was a tough call. Reuben had been outstanding in goal & even out on that pitch in the second half, he showed how much he is progressing. Teddy put in a proper shift in too. Ted was unlucky not to score but he is another who is just loving football right now. The POTM Award went to Myles 🏆 He was back playing with a smile on his face and when that happens, he becomes magic 🎩 😁

An incredible start to your first ever season of football in a league 💛🖤 See you all Saturday morning for some ‘Festive Fun’ 🎁 at the rec.
