Match report NMJFC U8s Bees - 27/11/22 vs Chapel U8 Colts

This week the Bee's were playing Chapel Town Colts.  Coach Joe joined us this week and having a new face on the sideline motivated the kids.  They got warmed up, with Stanley already making some great saves in the warm up to show they were ready to go.

Straight away the Bee's were under pressure from another strong Chapel team.  However Joshua in defence and Rocco dropping back to support was stopping them in their tracks.

Stanley's experience in goal showing yet again, making sure he dives onto the ball when it comes near his area.  Also not being afraid to come out of his area and make a clearance if the ball gets played into space.  It's been great to see his confidence growing whilst playing in goal.

Meanwhile in midfield Leo and Rocco were working together brilliantly, putting together passes and feeding it up to Seren.  Leo also showed how his speed to outrun opponents up the field is a great asset.

In the second half Alexander volunteered to go in goal.  After his success showing his goalie skills last week and claiming player of the match, this was great news for the Bee's.  Alexander made some great saves including a slow motion dive back to just stop the ball going over the line.

Leo and Charlie really started working well together in the second half, so many great through balls, runs up the pitch and shots on goal.  Unfortunately they were just kept out by a strong goal keeper or a bit of misfortune.  The ball just didn't seem to fall right for them on so many occasions.

Until the end the Bee's kept pushing up the pitch.  Joshua pushed up from defence to support Leo and Charlie putting Chapel under lots of pressure and coming so close to finding the back of the net on so many occasions.

At the end the referee came over to say how much the team has improved.  We completely agree there really was some great play this week, creating lots of chances and the second half was a great game to watch.

Player of the match was a difficult one this week, so many of them had put in so much effort.  However it was Leo who clinched it having outrun most of the players on the pitch and covered the whole pitch not only creating lots of opportunities but tackling and stopping lots of attacks in midfield.  Well done Leo! 👏🏻👏🏻
