Match report NMJFC U8s Bees vs Tintwistle Diamonds U8 - 26/03/23
A fresh (and by fresh I mean very chilly) morning in Glossopdale this week. I think the wind chill caught most of us out. A depleted Bees were up against Tintwistle Diamonds.
The team remember our last encounter with Tintwistle …which was a little physical and this was no different.
We were missing Seren and Alexander this morning due to illness. The Bees started with Stanley in goal, Toby and Joshua in defence with Charlie and Rocco upfront.
It was a really good encounter with two evenly matched teams. A good break away by the Bees saw Charlie score his first of the game.
Great passing moves by the Bees from defence to attack saw Charlie rush forward and score his second goal which can only be described as sublime (Panenka-esque if you will)
More pressing from the Bees saw a great run from Joshua all the way back from defence, some good inter-play and passing, the ball then came back to Joshua who was bustling through the opposition midfield and into the box and scored a great goal.
A swap with Toby and Leo gave the forward line even more pace and soon enough, Leo was on the scoresheet.
Half time saw a swap of goalkeeper with Joshua donning the gloves and Stanley eager to play outfield. The Bees were quick off the mark and with some good forward passing, Leo got his second goal of the game. Leo’s pace really pays dividends whether it’s storming forward attacking or racing back to defend.
The second half saw Joshua making some really good saves and the team communicating with each other, which is great to see. Toby was really switched on in whichever position he was asked to play. When defending, if the other defender moves forward, Toby knows to stay back.
When it’s 5-a-side it great to see that level of understanding from these players.
A tough second half overall, but a great game to be a part of.
Our player of the Match went to Toby for being tenacious, some great tackling and good passing out from the back.
