This weekend started with the sun shining and a frost in the air and our 7 girls all showed up rearing to go to play today’s opponents Richmond Rovers. We got off to a strong start with Nora in goal standing firm between the post and coming out to collect the ball with confidence. Nora’s ball distribution was on point and got the team on the front foot right from the back.
The back line was made up of Elle on the left, Emily on the right and Nina down the middle. All three stood strong and did what was needed when the game came to them.
Elle and Emily didn’t stop running all day, they both chased every loose ball and tracked back to get them all important tackles in and brake up the opponents play.
Nina was a rock in the middle, holding her position and reading the game well to time her tackles to perfection and clear the ball.
Heading up the pitch we had Skye and Isla, both in the mood to show off their skills and make Richmond work hard to get the ball back. Isla was everywhere all of the time, getting in strong challenges and taking the ball up the pitch on multiple occasions.
Skye did the same, tracking back and working hard for the team before driving the ball down the left and looking for the right pass.
Today’s substitute was Nancy who was keen to get involved from the off. Once on the pitch Nancy got involved in the play on the left, chasing the opponent and making important tackles. After the last couple of games Nancy was keen to continue her scoring streak and kept up the intensity throughout.
The second half saw more of the same from the team, Isla took up position between the posts and Nora came into the game as an outfield player, as always Nora ran her socks off for the team creating opportunities and getting back to make the goal saving tackles we have come used to seeing when watching her play. Isla did a solid job in goal showing her bravery making some high quality saves.
Player of the game award this week goes to Skye for her effort, sheer determination and skill in a tough game where none of the girls gave up and left all they had on the pitch at the final whistle. Well done Skye. ⚽️🏆⚽️
