Match Report - NMJFC U9 Falcons - 05/02/23
The frost was still being swept off the pitch as the Falcons were getting ready for their match against Chinley U9’s at Glossopdale.
Games against Chinley are always really enjoyable, with both teams always looking to play good passing football - and today was no exception.
Last week the Falcons started their game really slowly so the message was clear today. Start how we ended the game last week - lots of energy, press from the front and don’t give the opposition any time on the ball.
From the first whistle, the Falcons were on it! Relentless level of energy, determined to win every ball and using the space on the pitch to play some excellent passes. The Falcons created a huge number of chances in the first half, with the Chinley goalkeeper being in inspired form to prevent a number of goals. As half-time was getting closer and the Falcons defence rarely tested, they were taught a lesson about never switching off, with Chinley producing an excellent quick corner.
Half-time came around and the Falcons were delighted with their first half performance. They were able to bring what they were working on in training this week into the game with great effect - with some excellent passing and corner routines standing out.
A couple of changes and switches of position and the team were determined to do more of the same. What was pleasing to see in the second half, is the whole squad playing their part and contributing to some excellent football. As the game went on, more space was being created and the Falcons continued their threats on the Chinley goal.
Full-time and another fantastic performance from the Falcons. Every player playing their part in a brilliant all round display. They really understood their individual responsibilities today and as a team they fought for each other from the first whistle to the last.
Falcons goals today from Archie ⚽️⚽️⚽️, Poppy ⚽️⚽️ and Lucas ⚽️.
Special mention to today’s captain Lucas. A constant threat in the striker role, his game has really developed over the past couple of months with a new level of hunger playing in this position. He got himself in some excellent positions today and had numerous shots on goal.
But today’s player of the match trophy went to Henry. The coaches agreed that his performance today was one of his finest in the famous yellow and black kit. His hard work in training and extra practice in his own time is really paying off. He was an absolute rock in defence today. His positioning was outstanding, his tackles first class and his composure to play out from the back was exceptional. Well done Henry!
Super proud of the Falcons today - they were all amazing. Roll on next week!
