The countdown is on for The Hornets as we approach the end of another wonderful season at Glossopdale in The High Peak JFL. It will be the final season for this particular group as we plan to move leagues next season.
On Sunday we were up against Buxton Juniors Comets and credit to their coaches, they were well drilled and well organised. Buxton also had the benefit of half a dozen subs and The Hornets needed to focus as some multi-player changes from our opposition meant they constantly had fresh legs available. A different test for our Mini-Millers but one they were ready to take on.
Our pre-match chat was all about energy. Giving 100% from the very start and controlling the game with simple passing and lots of movement. The boys nailed it! Ollie M was first out the blocks and finished a lovely team move. When Ollie M came off for a drink, he told us coaches he’d promised his Mum a Mother’s Day gift as she wasn’t in attendance. What a lad!
Every single member of The Hornets team performed to their best and Buxton did very little wrong but when our lads are in this form, they just gel and are a pleasure to watch.
Albie was running the show and he was scoring goals aswell as making goals and this is when we are at our best.
Frankie & Ronan once again benefited as the wide defenders pushed forward and took their chances.
As coaches, we pride ourselves on work rate & effort. Oliver B and Finners have this in abundance and they are the core of the team. Both very unselfish, they win the ball back and create the next attack with their great passing.
In goal, Fenn was commanding again. He never put a foot wrong and was required to come sprinting-out and clear his lines when the ball had beaten our back-line.
Oliver L stole the show….. He hadn’t been feeling 100% and started the match on the sidelines. Just a few minutes in, he was needed on the pitch and stepped up another level. He won every tackle and nobody could get passed him. He then produced yet another incredible strike and as the ball hit the roof of the net, the ref was complimenting him too! Oliver L screamed his name out loud as he demanded that ball and then unleased the cleanest hit💥 Unstoppable!
Tremendous team effort💛🖤
Oliver L🏆 won POTM for his ability to adapt to multiple positions aswell as hitting another belter!
2 games to go……
⚽️🖤💛⚽️
