Match Report NMJFC U9s Bees - 05/11/23

We were looking forward to reacquainting ourselves with the Young Bucks who gave us some great games last season (memorably a high scoring draw where we equalised with the last kick of the game in the last game of the season)

Today we were minus Stanley who failed a late fitness test (hope you’re feeling better soon ‘safe hands’)

We lined up with David in goal, Will, Rocco, Millie, Brooke, Leo and Charlie.

The game kicked off and it was obvious the game would be a midfield battle with neither team giving anything away.

Rocco was running a little late so we had a brief cameo from Albie for the first 5 minutes (who hit a cracker which ricocheted off the cross bar)

The Bees were making some good breaks when they won the ball but found the Buxton defence difficult to break down.   Millie was really working hard on the left, Brooke was battling in the middle and Leo was up and down the right wing.

Will made some great tackles to make sure David was well protected in goal. When David was called upon, he made a great save and pushed the ball out for a corner 👍🏻 Rocco was also on hand to clear the ball when needed.

Charlie was dropping deep to get stuck in with some hard tackles and looking to break forward at every opportunity.  Brooke picked up the ball on the right and had a fantastic effort that flashed wide

Half time, a quick regroup and team talk and we were ready to go again.  Much of the same as the first half with individual battles all over the pitch.

Charlie had a few chances with a couple of brilliant, cheeky efforts, Millie got on the end of a corner but the ball went agonisingly over.  It seemed every corner the Bees took flashed across the goal and we just weren’t able to get a foot on it.  Almost with the last kick of the game (again!) Charlie won the ball, played Leo through but he couldn’t slot it past the keeper.

What made this such a good game to be a part of is that every player stepped up and ran their socks off. Every single Bee 🐝 should be proud of their efforts today.  They all looked like they were having fun and playing as a team.
