V Bollington United
After a summer full of relaxation and fun it’s that time again to get up early on a Saturday morning and watch the girls play the game they love. It was a lovely sunny day perfect for running off all that summer holidays chocolate and ice cream.
We started the game strong with Eliza in goal, she made some fantastic saves and read the game superbly as it played out in front of her.
Emily started in defence, showing her strength when required in 1on1s with the Bollington attackers. She won the ball back and got the team going forward over and over again.
We had Skye and Isla on the left and right wings, both starting strong and winning the ball high up the pitch and suffocating the Bollington play before they had time to get started. Both players forcing us towards the Bollington goal creating good chances and getting shots off.
Upfront we had Nina ready to test the Bollington defence with her high press and good positioning in the opponent's box. Coming close on occasions to putting the ball in the net herself.
Coming on off the bench we had Nora going onto the left wing and Myla taking on the attacking responsibility. Nora as always showed her pace and determination as she put some perfect balls into the danger areas for her team mates to get into the end off.
It was a fantastic moment to see Myla join the game as this was her debut for the team. Myla was a force to be reckoned with, getting herself all over the pitch and winning the ball for the team high up the pitch before laying off her team mates or coming close to scoring if it wasn’t for a great save from the Bollington keeper.
The second half was more of the same from our girls, high pace and quick press. Skye took charge on goal doing a great job on the ball, making some great saves and passing it out well. Eliza came out of goal and did a mega job taking up position on the left wing and giving it all for the team. Her running with the ball was a joy to watch and she was also unlucky not to score a goal.
Player of the game went to Eliza for her goalkeeping performance in the first half and her ball control and effort in the second. ⚽️ 🏆
