Match Report NMJFC U9s v Cheadle FC South - 15/02/25

The Millers were back at Stockport Sports Village for a cold 10:45 kick off against Inter Cheadle FC South, a good team who we have played on several occasions.

We started with James as first half goalkeeper, Charlie T and Rhys in defence, our usual midfield trio of Stanley, Teddy and Jackson, and Dylan as striker.

The Millers were quick on the break from the kick off, nearly scoring in the first 10 seconds when Dylan and Teddy linked up well putting Stanley in on goal but their keeper was alert. Cheadle quickly countered our attack and it was them who took an early lead.

The boys worked hard, playing some nice passing football from the back, Rhys linking up well with his midfield gave Stanley the chance to put Dylan through to score a great equaliser.

It was end to end stuff from then, both teams playing well. James pulling off some remarkable saves using the whole of his area to close down Cheadle’s attacks. Charlie T proudly wearing the captains armband was working hard with his team.

We brought on subs Charlie J and Pavak to rest some players and to help keep up the strong pressure on Cheadle. We had plenty of opportunities before half time but Cheadle’s keeper was proving as hard to beat as James.

Teddy took the goalie gloves for the second half and the game picked up where it had left off with end to end chances for both teams.

Pavak and James working hard at the back allowing Rhys to push forward with Charlie T and Jackson all putting some great through balls to Charlie J and Dylan.

Teddy was making some great saves as Cheadle kept up the pressure, pulling off a fantastic save from a free kick to keep us in it.
