Match Report NMJFC U9s v High Lane Warriors - 22/02/25

Venue: Benchill Community Centre, Wythenshawe

With 2 of the players missing, Charlie T poorly and Dylan missing, we only had 7 players meaning no substitutes.

Teddy in goals, James, Pavak and Rhys defence, Stanley and Jackson midfield and Charlie J striker

We started well with the boys playing some great football. James and Pavak passing the ball nicely out to their midfielders.

We had a couple of attempts on goal including a great strike by Charlie J which was somehow kept out by the High Lane keeper.

A slight mix up in defence led to us conceding an own goal. This triggered a reaction in our boys, our passing game which we have worked hard on the training pitch, now paid off. Jackson and Stanley were getting lots of success down their wings and Rhys completely controlling the centre of the field.

 Just before the half time break Rhys hit an absolute belter in to the top right corner of the High Lane net, great goal!!

Charlie J took to the goalkeeping job for the second half. We carried on where we left off now with Teddy in on the action. End to end football with more great passing moves. We got the first chance to go ahead when Stanley finished off a well worked attack through the High Lane defence.

With no substitutes available the boys were still battling away, working hard in all areas. Rhys was having a lot of success bringing the ball forward through the middle and he got his reward on his birthday weekend with another great goal.

The boys played their socks off today all working hard for one another without a rest.   Special mentions to our volunteer keepers/forwards, Charlie J and Teddy who both played positions they wouldn’t normally.

Pavak and James who defended non stop, all the way to the end. Stanley and Jackson for creating chances and constant running back and forth and our player of the match Rhys. Awesome game on your birthday weekend, controlled so well and topped off with a couple of goals.
