Match report NMJFC Under 10s girls Vs Cheadle & Gatley 25/03/23
Following our previous game earlier in the season against this team, the girls were mentally prepared it could be a tough 50mins.
The team was also missing a few players due to sickness that also rendered us a 6 girl squad without any subs. Fortunately the opposition kindly chose to play with six to fair up the game although they still had a good bank of subs in readiness.
The game started well with New Mills pushing forward and hampering the oppositions defence.
There was plenty of times their goalie needed to react quickly at our attempts with Isla almost getting a goal. Unfortunately none of the strikes ever made it into the back of net, but it wasn’t for not trying. Things continued in the same fashion with possession firmly at our feet.
Following the second half kick off we continued with the same passion but with the opposition readily able to swap their team for fresh legs, 3 at a go, the girls had to work hard with tired legs.
They continued to press forward with confidence and we’re all ready to drop back when the ball was given away, Florence and Isla at the ready clearing it back up the pitch for some great football by Elsie, Holly and Emily finding positions and working together.
As usual Millie gave us that impressive goal kick that kept us in the oppositions half and also made some excellent saves when required.
The girls left the pitch with their heads held high for what was a difficult game but at the same time showed how they are developing as team. We decided mutually between the team that Holly deserved the player of the game for gaining confidence in her tackling skills and not giving up, well done👍
