Dukinfield Greens Vs NMJFC u11s Girls

Second game of the season for us today against a fairly new team and a brand-new venue.

Quite a tense game today with evenly matched teams, fair play to Dukinfield who kept us on our toes for the whole game. Freya B taking a well-placed, out of the area shot in the first 2 minutes and the equaliser coming a few minutes later with Nayia in net unfortunately facing a 1v1.

New Mills took every chance they could today giving the opposition’s defenders a full on game.

They seemed to settle down after the first ten minutes but we had to wait until 5 minutes left of the half for Ava’s fancy footwork to sneak us in another.

With what seemed like a very short pitch today there seemed less space and time to move the ball about, some good passing today, Jaz our Captain did a great job, we could see from the sidelines she was instructing the team well. Jaz you were again making great decisions and finding the space to get into, well done.

Change around 2nd half, Lily in net gave us some great goal kicks with well placed, high up the pitch balls. Nieve’s first game for us today, some great runs down that wing and you had your eye on the goal but was not to be…today…but keep that up! Phoebe stepping into a defending position in 2nd half, great work! Lily your keeper’s decision to come off your line was fantastic! And unfortunate that Dukinfield managed to scoop it across the front. Well done for being so brave!

We seemed to be putting more pressure on in this half and there were lots of shots on target, their keeper making some great saves. Nayia laying it on for Freya B who fired it into the top corner. Some lovely through balls from our midfield today.

A real end to end game today, again last five minutes of the half and we were on the edge of our seats with a rebound off top bar and a rebound off the post but eventually another for Freya B and a sigh of relief from us all. Jay you did some great chasing down their fast players today well done.

As always, proud of you girls, really working well as a team and trusting each other.
