Match report NMJFC Under 12s girls - 28/01/23
vs Stockport County u12 (The other County )
Getting rid of some energy & getting their heads in the game with a brisk warm up this morning and an almost fatality between our strong footed Number 6, Jay, and a small brown terrier who was nearly knocked into next week’s game by the ball!
The Millers girls the better team today and kept up good energy for the full game.
Ava stepping up to the plate in net first half, showing how much she understands and obviously loves the game. Ava takes everything on board and although fiercely competitive the pressure never seems to get to her, it’s such a great trait to have.
We played a slightly different formation today to try and support the back three more and putting what we’ve worked on in training into our game with closing down players before they get into that final third & not letting them get the shot away.
This showed in our game today. Great box to box action from Nieve in the second half which shows confidence in our defenders. Captain skills on point again.
We play such a better game when we’re in the zone, the ability to recover after losing possession & being confident in attacking play.
Credit to Freya L who put in a shift for a solid 60 minutes, leaving the pitch with an empty tank, 2 goals in the first half, work ethic 100%, super strong under difficult tackles too! Ellie, again, another hard worker for us who took a nasty shove inside the box but ref’s shout of no penalty.
Nayia took up the gloves in second half and managed a few clearances off the line but with a scramble in the box & an unfortunate deflection, Stockport found the bottom corner of the net.
A break in our defensive line saw County equalise. A full-on game today and both sides looking for that winning goal which was not to be. Final whistle blown.
Our standout POTM today goes to Jay. Running players out wide, clearing away when needed, covering her defensive team mates, standing up the Stockport strikers, you never stopped, all done with a smile on your face too! Both coaches and players alike said how much she influenced the game as a defender today. Well deserved!
Well done girls.👏🏻
