Match report NMJFC Under 14s - 19 Sept 21

New Mills under 14 started their season with a local derby away to Chinley and “boy” was it a thoroughly entertaining game.

New Mills controlled the early percent of possession however, against the run of play the home team broke on the counter-attack and a deflected shot looped over Logan and into the New Mills goal to put Chinley 1-0 up.

Continuing as they had started, New Mills were soon level. Harvey collected the ball a good 25 yards from goal and decided not to overcomplicate matters, he beat his man then simply smashed the ball into the top right corner 1-1 game on!

Luca then won the ball high up the pitch and poked a lovely through ball to the on running Max who rounded the goalkeeper to make it 1-2 to the away team.

Just before the break William receive the ball on the right hand side of midfield, he beat his man and sprayed a delicious defence splitting through ball. Left-winger Max was making ‘back post’ movement who then calmly collected the ball and smashed it home to make it 1-3 just before the half-time whistle.

After the break New Mills managed to capitalise yet again. William danced his way through the Chinley defence only to square the ball to the feet of Harvey, Who sold the defender a dummy which left the centre half for dead leaving him to tap the ball into the bottom left and corner to make it 1-4 to the visitors.

Thankfully the New Mills keeper Logan didn’t have much to do for most of the game, and this was down to his teammates work-rate, desire and togetherness. The very well organised defence for New Mills of Nate, Ruben and Gene was an absolute joy to watch especially the vocal performance from Gene.

Tom really did pull the strings in this game too, with quite possibly his best game for the juniors to date. The midfield generals Joe and Declan worked tirelessly throughout the match, their work-rate and determination was flawless!

You could clearly see that the New Mills forwards also enjoyed being back, who all looked dangerous throughout the game. Max and Harvey both scored two goals each. William helped himself to 2 assist and Luca getting an assist too.

New Mills also got the chance to unleash there new signing Devah. He really did excite the crowd with his blistering pace and will be a fantastic addition to the team. The juniors will also look forward to welcoming back Luke and Matthaus next week, who unfortunately had to miss the game against Chinley.

A big shout out to Chinley who hosted a truly entertaining fixture and good luck for the rest of the season.

A MASSIVE thank you to all the parents for your ongoing support and for respecting the touchline rulings as always.
